Naya Raipur is participating in the third round of Smart City Challenge. For any city to improve or to become smart, a city should be able to identify its strengths, its weaknesses, the untapped opportunity and the impending threats. Naya Raipur being first planned city of 21st century already has state-of-the-art infrastructure at its disposal. The city has well planned economic and social infrastructure. The Village Development Plan is also taking care of social equity and cohesion. The rich culture and heritage all adds to the strength of the city.

As the city is in its development phase, it’s imperative to have some weaknesses. Most apparent weakness would be safety & security issue. Delay in development of the city magnets is another burning issue. But the major weakness would be inability of the city to attract population.

Every weakness provides an equal opportunity. So Naya Raipur has immense opportunity to become regional trade hub. It has ability to become growth driver and employment provider for whole of central India. NR has opportunity to become educational and recreational hub of central India.

Though the weaknesses provide an opportunity, but they imposes threat as well. Biggest threat is associated with sluggish movement of population in Naya Raipur. This possess threat in return on investment on Infra.

Hence in order to make me a smart city we would invite all the citizens to collaborate and provide their view on SWOT of Naya Raipur. This will help us in identifying the more pertaining issues with the citizens and thus will us in shaping the future of the city.
